Celebrating Guy Fawkes Night
Last night we celebrated Bonfire/Guy Fawke’s/Firework Night in style. We went to the house of our Friend Emily’s parents. They live on a farm in Lancashire. There were lots of people, lots to eat and loads of fireworks!
We took some pictures so you can be in on the celebrations too…
The Bonfire
Sarah and Emily drinking punch by the fire
The food - treacle toffee, bonfire cakes, black peas (a new delicacy to me - apparently well known in the county of Lancashire!), hot apple cider, meat and potato stew and pickled cabbage!
Sam and Ryan playing Chinese Checkers
Outside for fireworks
Me and Sam with our bonfire toffee lollies
Fun with Sparklers
(Ooh, the concentration!)
All in all, a lovely way to celebrate bonfire night.. I think it’s one of the best time of year to bring communities together. Every village, town and city you look over, fireworks light up the sky from every street. Can’t wait til next year!!

Thanks for sharing! I love learning and celebrating about other countries’ holidays, I think I’ll have to add this one to my list for next year…although I guess no “colonialists” would really have minded if Fawkes had actually succeeded in blowing up the houses of parliament! Lol. That’s ok. I’ll celebrate Guy Fawkes day if you’ll celebrate Thanksgiving! (the British boyfriend says that he’s thankful, alright…thankful to be rid of us! Lol.)

Deana - it’s a date!
Mel - you’re probably right. As a child I was on the side of Guy Fawkes. I thought he was a goodie.
We are celebrating Thanksgiving this year! We have an American on our Mosaic Team and thought it was a good opportunity to have a party and be thankful! I’m in charge of the ‘American’ stuffing for the turkey and the ingredients for a hot apple cider punch-type-thing. I get to try sweet potato pie too. Hmm.. sounds interesting!
