I enjoyed the new-ness of California too. It has a very different history but history all the same! I wish we were still staying in our Stately Home. At the moment I'm in bed at home being ill and it's not fun. The views aren't as good and no one is cooking me 4 course meals! You could have popped in for tea! I've spent loads of time there - guide camps, playing on the adventure playground - I actually once hide in the boot of a car to avoid paying to get in ( although I don't think I should admit that...!)
