A Fun-filled Weekend!
This weekend has been lots of fun. Yesterday we celebrated our friend Helen’s 25th Birthday by going to a roller disco. For those who don’t know what this is, people (mainly small children) roller skate around to music with flashing lights! We were definitely the oldest ones there apart from some mum’s and Dad’s who didn’t all venture out on skates! I had a roller disco birthday party for my 12th birthday so the memories came flooding back. It was lots of fun watching the kids and the mum’s and dad’s falling over! I managed to stay upright!
Afterwards, we had a barbeque. It’s been a heatwave all week and at the point that we started our BBQ, the thunder started and the heaven’s opened! Helen’s boyfriend Chris made a makeshift shelter for the BBQ from washing lines and bin bags!
This afternoon we went with friends Lizzie and John to see Pirates of the Carribean 2. I loved it. I can’t wait for the next one. Just a year to wait! A fun weekend full of people and fun prepares me well for a week of work nicely. Bring it on.
Me skating - so fast, I’m a blur!
trying to catch Chantelle (in the yellow)!
Sam and a random child. He was definitely the tallest there!

The train! A Classic!
Bbq in the rain. The guys hanging in there while we look at them through the kitchen window!
Finished off with a game of “Towering Blocks”! Ooh, the tension mounts….
All in all, a thoroughly good weekend.

Sounds like a super-fun week-end!
In the states we call them roller skating rinks (not to be confused with ice skating rinks), and the game with the blocks is called Jenga. Not sure why. Tower Blocks makes much more sense!

Jenga is the official version here too, Mel. Tower Blocks is a rival!

Thanks for your comments guys! I feel a bit cut off without my laptop. My brother is borrowing it. He’s on a course for writing plays and scripts and is a poor student! Also, I’ve only just got the computer to let me comment on my own blog! very frustrating.
Jen, the heat hasn’t broken! It did for a bit but now I am in a building where it’s 30 degrees C inside and about 27 outside. Too, too hot. Fine for a weekend though! It’s officially the hottest month in the UK EVER!
Mel - thanks for stopping by. Feel like I’ve not connected with your blog for ages and ages. Jenga is now the most expensive version so people tend to buy the cheaper ones - after all, they’re just wooden blocks! Have you ever played giant Jenga? They do that in pubs here sometimes.
Lon - you should have a go and rekindle old skills! One thing I noticed - falling down isn’t as fun when you’ve got bigger and older!
Deana - my thoughts are racing with ideas for the Watson family trip! I’d better write some down and email you!

Giant Jenga? I’ve never heard of it. Are the blocks as big as your hand or something? Sounds like lots of fun!
I know you guys will have a blast with Deana. I expect you’ll post pictures?
Have a nice day.
