Miserable on a sunny day

It’s the warmest day of the year so far today. Suddenly the temperature has jumped from 15 degrees (celcius) to 25 degrees. The rubbish bit is that I’m poorly - very red nose, very sore throat, no energy and a big headache - and have been sleeping, not enjoying the sunshine. I’ve had the day off work which means that 8 children didn’t get therapy today. I hate being poorly. It’s such a waste of time.

Added to that, we’re doing an event at the university tonight as part of a group of churches - “Life by Hollywood”. Sam’s doing a talk on ‘choices’ using film clips. It should be great but I feel so rubbish that I’m staying at home and don’t get to see my husband communicating to searching people. All day I’ve been hoping that I would feel ok and I don’t so he’s going on his own.

An upside to today is that I had a long bath and a big pray and my life and the world and how they fit together. I’ll be praying for Sam and the others doing talks tonight. What a great opportunity. I hope I can go to work tomorrow. I’ve got loads to do before we go to LA. I guess rest is a good thing too. I’m more of a do-er I think.

Sorry for the rant! I feel a bit better now!

Do you think it’s just allergies? We have had the worst bout with allergies this year! Itchy eyes, itchy nose and ears! Yuck!

Rest up and feel better soon!

  • Sam. Sam.

    Thanks for praying, honey.

I love your English word choices. I am sorry to hear you are not feeling well.

I’m sorry you’re sick! That’s never fun. I love hearing English words used differently than we use them here in the U. S.

Are you all going to L.A. for Origins?

  • Sam. Sam.

What English word choices are those? I’m intrigued!

    I’m intrigued also!

We’ll be at origins. We fly out next Friday! Very excited!

I’m feeling better today - haven’t been to work but have got lots of rest. And it’s still sunny!

Little things like “the rubbish bit is that I’m poorly.” I’ve never heard anyone over here describe feeling ill like that. I like it! I enjoy learning English phrases that I’m not familiar with. I find the variance of word usage in English fascinating! From England to America is different, even east coast to west coast can differ. Little phrases like “mind the gap.” Over here, we say “watch your step” or something like that. It’s just interesting to watch the English language evolve.

    See you all at Origins!

I find language fascinating too! I look forward to comparing our individual ways of expressing ourselves! I definitely think American English and British English are very different at times. We use different words across different parts of Britain too.

I’ll try and think of some British gems to share at origins!
