Food Glorious Food!

Do all celebrations involve food? I think they do. It’s not always just because we’re hungry or have a physical need. There’s something about sharing a meal that brings people closer. This weekend we spent most of our time eating with my extended family. We celebrated my uncle’s life after surgery on a brain tumour and and shared special food and quality time. It wouldn’t have been the same without the food. Interesting. Jesus ate with people lots didn’t he? And different cultures have different foods that have been birthed out of celebration.
I recently read Deana’s post on the food she was eating and thought I would share pictures of the food that contributed to the special-ness of our weekend.

Mmmm. They all look like they’re concentrating hard on eating!

I hope everyone else has had a good weekend. Eaten anything exciting? Food of other cultures fascinates me so any insights you have on your favourite local dishes would be great!!

Hey Rachel! Thanks for the comment. The weather here has been beautiful!!! I live in Columbia, Missouri in the states… I work at the University of Missouri at the Baptist Student Union. I was involved here as a student for 4 years, and then have been on staff for the last two. After this school year I am moving to Kentucky to go to seminary :-)

Your food looks amazing!! And its funny, because even though the UK and US are obviously similar in many ways, and our food is very similar, you can tell there are still some small differences. I can’t imagine us having a plum dessert here! I agree with Deana.. the first melon and berry dish sounds great! I would have never thought to combine those things!

    Have a great day!
